The Lesson

So here is my latest illustration, albeit at semi scruffy pencil stage. There’s a bit more to tidy but I’ve really loved working on this one so far. Now I’m itching to play with some colour. Hope your weekend is fun too.

Happily it also falls easily into this weeks Illustration Friday theme.

  1. Hello,
    Just wanted to say thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, and sorry it’s taken me a while to return the favour. It is lovely to ‘meet’ you, too, and your beachy watery photos are delicious. I want to make a dash for the coast now, instead of working today!

    Keep in touch,
    Amy.

  2. I’m with everyone above! Alisa, your work’s wonderful! I love the sketch and can’t wait to see the final piece with color.

    Thank you for your nice comment on my blog, and like Amy above, so nice to “meet” you! You also asked about shading and whether it was Photoshop or pencil. I never know if my replies will get to the comment author, so I love visiting to reply. To answer your question, it was pencil. I sometimes use a color pencil that’s sepia/brownish-red in color and it’s a bit smudgy. I also drew this on velum. I like velum, it’s so hardy and strong and creates the nice smudgy you asked about.

    See you in blog-o-sphere!

  3. Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog.

    Love your beautiful pencil sketches and it all starts with the gentlemen wandering his mood and fingers on the piano;
    and the lady expresses her emotion with some love blossoms creeping by…
    This tells us the lesson of missing someone so deeply….just like I miss coming to your blog for so long.
